In the frame of German Culture Days in Orenburg

On 17^th September there was the ceremony of commitment of scholarships named after Alexander Schmorell as the part of German Culture’ Days in Orenburg.

Traditionally OSU students became the award winners this year. The Governor of Orenburg region Yuri Berg, authorized representative of German Ambassador in Russian Federation Georg Birgelen, Deputy Head of Orenburg Administration Denis Zelentsov and board member of “White Rose” foundation in Munich Winfried Vogel participated in the event.

All students of Orenburg State University learning German language were invited to “Cosmos” Cinema Centre. While Regina Kashapova and Kseniya Mikhaylova, final-year students of OSU Philology Faculty got the scholarship named after Alexander Schmorell.

Organisers made the video presentation for the first-year students about antifascist activity of the opposition group of Munich students’ community. The archpriest Dmitriy Suray narrated about Alexander Schmorell’ canonization. Winfried Vogel said his thanks to the Governor of Orenburg region and mentioned that there wouldn’t be any ceremony without Yuri Berg’s contribution.

Next day scriptwriter, stage director Julianna Hayk and camera operator Eberhard Hayk visited OSU and prepared the documentary film “War and Peace in Grabowsee” for run. In the University Julianna and Eberhard Hayk met Sergey Letuta, vice-rector for Scientific Research and compared notes about Orenburg and Sol-Iletsk.

— I feasted eyes on Orenburg steppes all the way when we were driving to Sol-Iletsk, — Julianna Hayk admired. — It’s the first time I saw such boundless scope.

Sergey Letuta told Hayk’ couple about close cooperation between OSU and universities in Germany. He mentioned that every year students from Orenburg State University forward to practical studies in German universities and lecturers from Germany come to work in OSU.

— When interrelationship between people is well-intentioned at the local level, this shows readiness for cooperation at national level, — Sergey Letuta said.

Guests from Germany held creative evening with students and lecturers of Journalism Faculty of Orenburg State University.
