Orenburg State University celebrated the anniversary of the great poet Alisher Navoiy

On February 26, Orenburg hosted the International online conference «Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Eurasia: milestones of History». It was dedicated to the 580th birth anniversary of Alisher Navoiy (1441–1501), a great poet and philosopher who laid the foundation for the Uzbek literary language.

The OSU Research Institute of History and Ethnography of the Southern Urals, the Commonwealth of the Peoples of Eurasia, Alisher Navoiy Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature and Tashkent State Pedagogical University named after Nizami organized the conference.

At the conference, scientists from Russia and Uzbekistan presented their research findings on the life and works of Alisher Navoiy, recited his poems in Russian and Uzbek.

All participants agreed that the works of Alisher Navoiy had philosophical depth, subtle lyricism and the perfect beauty of poetic images and thus they sound close to different peoples and deserve love and stir up a great interest in Russia. His works became popular around the world thanks to oriental studies in Russia and the Soviet Union, professional translators, mass book publishing in the USSR. Because of that Navoiy’s works became available to the readers both in central and village libraries. They build bridges of mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of Russia and Uzbekistan.

This year, numerous literary and musical events, round tables and meetings, conferences and exhibitions dedicated to Alisher Navoiy have already been held in Abakan, Astrakhan, Bugulma, Veliky Novgorod, Vladimir, Voronezh, Grozny, Yevpatoria, Yekaterinburg, Kaluga, Moscow, Nizhnevartovsk, Novokuznetsk, Petrozavodsk, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Rostov-on-Don, Rybinsk, St. Petersburg, Simferopol, Surgut, and Ulyanovsk, Chelyabinsk. Ryazan has been launched the All-Russian poetic flash mob with videos of the poet’s poems reciting.
