The visit of the UK Consul General to OSU

Richard Andrew Dewell, Consul General of the UK in Ekaterinburg, accompanied by Yelena Chesnokova, Senior Public Relations Adviser, have payed a visit to Orenburg State Uiversity.

At first the guest had a meeting with the students and lecturers of OSU Faculty of Philology and Institute of Innovations in Social Sciences and Humanities and Massmedia.

Richard Dewell has presented the Chevening Scholarships program, which currently covers 160 countries. After answering the questions, the Consul General had a meeting with the University administration. According to Zhanna Ermakova, OSU Rector, the quality and quantity of contacts between OSU and organizations of UK don't meet the existing needs. And one of the university’s wish is to intensify the activities in this area. The University offeres a great variety of training programmes for students and, respectively, the lines of research. For both students and lecturers would be advisable to attend lectures of native English speakers. The OSU community is also interested in training students through double diploma programms and getting certificates after one-semester training at a partner-university.

The Consul General promised to consider the initiatives and to study the opportunities for cooperation.
