Gabil Mamedov: I am happy, but I had a lot of work ahead!

OSU post-graduate Gabil Mamedov became a winner of 63 kg Boxing Championship of Russia in Samara and got the title of the best boxer of the competition.

The Boxing Championship of Russia took place on November 9–16 in Samara. 290 boxers from 58 regions of the country competed in the contest. The National team of Russia to participate the Olympic Tournament of 2020, London would be formed from the Championship winners.

Before his final match Gabil Mamedov has won four competitions, proving to be better than boxers from Moscow region Sandan Sandanov and Boris Shikunov, as well as Novosibirsk sportsman Ivan Kozlovsky. In semi-final he has beaten Samara participant Pavel Fyodorov. According to an unanimous decision of the judges, at his final match Gabil bested Saint-Petersburg sportsman Alexei Mazur.
