Hakathon "Goroda". Young architects transform the urban space

OSU Student won the All-Russia hakathon "Goroda" ("Cities") in a team of young architects and urbanists from various regions of Russia.

The urban hakathon “Goroda” took place in Kazan through September 21–27. Thirty young urbanists, designers and architects — the finalists of the All-Russia youth forum "Tavrida" — participated in the event. One of them was Angelina Utemisova, an OSU student from the Faculty of Architecture and Construction. She took part in the hakathon along with fourteen young professionals selected through republic-wide architect contest in Tatarstan.

There were seven teams in "Goroda" and for five days they were redesigning urban areas of Kazan and several other territories of Tatarstan Republic. Angelina Utemisova became a part of the team that worked on the remodeling of a youth center in the town of Mamadysh.

In the past the building of 1 564 sq. m. housed only the Central Bank, but currently the bank occupies only 330 sq. m., while the rest of the space is given to the youth center.

The project is based on the concept of "Monopoly" game. In order to bring to life their creative ideas, young people made a maximum use of the objects left over from the bank. Eventually, the project won the hakathon. It is going to be implemented in 2020 as a part of infrastructure renovation program for youth in the Republic of Tatarstan.
