Young people of Russia and Japan discuss the prospects of cooperation

Orenburg State University representatives have participated in Russia-Japan Youth Forum that took place in Saint-Petersburg on September 23–28.

The forum is a part of Russia-Japan Youth Exchange 2019 plan with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The promotion of youth cooperation is the main objective of the forum.

More than 80 people (university students and non-commercial association representatives from both countries) have participated in the forum that took place in Saint-Petersburg at the end of September. For three days participants attended the plenary meetings, roundtable discussions and four sections of the forum, where they discussed development of volunteerism, youth contribution to sustainable development, youth entrepreneurship, and also the issues of youth exchanges in culture.

Orenburg State University was represented by the Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Education Development Lyudmila Dokashenko who moderated the forum section “Youth exchanges in culture”. Tatiana Golikova, a student from OSU Aerospace Institute took part in the section “Development of youth voluntary service”. She has successfully undergone the competitive selection process and became one of the 40 representatives of Russia. During the joint activities within the section young people have discussed the problems and the development potential for voluntary activities in Russia and Japan, the experience of implementing projects in their countries and regions and youth participation in social activity.
