From iVolga with a victory

A project of the Orenburg State University’s student won the grant competition at the “iVolga 2.0” Youth Volga Federal District Forum.

Ekaterina Kilyazova got first prize in “Science and Education” program and received 300,000 rubles from the Foundation for Civil Society Development to implement her “Festival of Creative Mathematics” project. Ekaterina suggested a new way to make the queen of sciences popular among high school children.

The student aims to publish a book on creative mathematics for primary and secondary high school students. It will collect the creative works by talented high school children from all over the region, the winners of the “Mathematics in Poetry” contest. The most active ones will participate in the “Festival of Creative Mathematics”, where they will play Armageddon, the game designed by Ekaterina.

The festival is planned to be held at OSU. The book presentation will take place within the event, and the best authors will recite their poems and attend a speech session with scientists and meet with Klaus Haenssgen, a professor of Leipzig University of Applied Sciences, and visit research laboratories and a library.

Ekaterina's idea was also supported by LLC “Gazprom Transgaz Samara”, giving her another 200,000 rubles to implement the project. With such support, the project will get an interregional status.
