OSU honored the memory of Afghanistan war’s soldiers

On February 15 OSU students were recalling the war in Afghanistan and met an officer who took part in these military operations.

Sergey Semenov, OSU prorector for Social and Educational Affairs started the meeting with briefing on the important initiative of the State Duma. It declared the decree of the Congress of People’s Deputies of the USSR invalid. The decree criticized the brining of Soviet troops in Afghanistan in 1979. The prorector introduced the audience to Andrei Brunin, Major retired, who served in Afghanistan.

Andrei Brunin believed that terrorism capturing the modern world is a follow up of the events in Afghanistan. He demonstrated the documents about mujahed training. And though they were written with 30 years interval, the documents looked similar. Students posed a lot of questions to the guest.

To keep the tradition students honored the memory of the war dead with a minute of silence.

On this day the Museum of the OSU History exhibited the photos of students and graduates when they serviced in Afghanistan.
