Orenburg State University participated once again in the International Forum “Orenburg region — the heart of Eurasia” held on December 5–7 in Orenburg.

In his welcoming speech Yuri Berg, Governor of the Orenburg region, stated that the Forum collected over 3 500 participants from Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and China. For its 8 years history the event has turned into an important forum to discuss actual issues of cooperation in Eurasia. The Forum-2018 focused on digital economy.

The Forum’s programme listed over 20 round tables, panel discussions and workshops. Zhanna Ermakova, OSU rector, acted as a leading speaker in the round table “Technological tandem in science and business. What specialists are in demand in the epoch of changes”. She introduced the audience to the practice of training specialists for the digital economy.

Vitaly Demidochkin, director of OSU Engineering centre “Coprehensive processing of mature ferrous slags” participated in the round table “New practices in waste management”.

Students from the Aerospace Institute, Faculty of Physics, Faculty of Chemistry and Biology, Faculty of Economics and Finances exhibited 9 projects in the Avenue of Start-Ups.

Orenburg State University also presented its volunteer activities summing up the eventful Year of Volunteer. One could see on the monitor a geographical map with marked cities and countries of great venues where OSU students had acted as volunteers.
