Dancing Kalinka and Iyo Manzai together

The OSU dancing group “Zhemchuzhinka” (“Pearl”) came back from the tour to Japan.

The trip was sponsored by the Japan-Russia Center for Youth Exchanges in Tokyo, an OSU partner since 2009. OSU applied for the grant together with the Ehime Prefecture government and the University of Ehime.

22 artists from Zhemchuzhinka participated in the annual Matsuyama Art Festival and together with Botchan Theatre gave a performance in the biggest concert hall of the city for 2 000 spectators.

People of Japan have a great interest and love for the Russian culture so Cossack dances and folk songs won a storm of applause. With great pleasure they joined Russian artists in a round dance.
