Geographical Dictation

On November 11 Orenburg State University hosted for the forth time the Geographical Dictation.

The event gathered 99 countries and had 4 000 site places. More than 200 lovers of Geography came to OSU — high school and university students, professors and pensioners. A big number — 50 people — counted a group of army offices led by colonel Alexej Zimin from the Orenburg Rocket Troops.

The dictation had 2 sections made up of 30 questions with varying degrees of complexity. They tested not only the high school level knowledge but erudition and quick understanding.

— The main goal of this event is to make Geography popular, to develop pride for the nation and love for the country. And we have made a progress in achieving the goal — said Tatyana Gerasimenko, Head of the Geography and Regional Studies Department. — The dictation had a medium complexity questions and many of them asked us about specific regions and places, but I believe the majority coped with the assignment.
