Days of Germany in Orenburg. A special atmosphere in OSU

On October 15–19 OSU hosted the VI Festival “Days of Germany in Orenburg”. The event was organized in cooperation with the Embassy of Germany in Moscow as a part of “Days of Germany in the regions of Russia” project.

Scors of people from different places of the Orenburg region participated in the Photography competition announced as a part of the Festival. 15 winners in different nominations got diplomas and prizes from the Embassy of Germany in Moscow.

Alexei Doerre presented DAAD programs. He also administered SETDeutsch examination that gave the right to apply for the study trips to Germany. More than 50 Orenburgers will get a certificate on the exam.

Angelika Jodl had a lecture on how to compose “a correct sentence in German”. Irina Ganieva and Alexei Doerre gave a seminar “Scopus in practice”. The Festival welcomed the discussion “Translation: a skill or an art?”. It was when the winners for the best translation of the pieces from the novels by Angelika Jodl and Barbara Slawig got their diplomas. The most popular event was the seminar on the best practices for interpreters and translators. Evgeniy Bartov who conducted the seminar is an expert in translating law documents, IT articles and ads.

In the Poetry Readings “Lines dear to the heart” students recited the poems by Heinrich Heine and modern poets, the prose of Hermann Hesse and other authors.

The closing ceremony was held in the Students’ Center “Russia”. The crowning of the evening was a mini-play by the Students’ theatre “Buterbrody” titled “Physicists”. It was stayed a couple of years ago by Birte Richardt when she worked at OSU as Bosch lecturer.
