OSU Summer School: from physics to national cuisines

On September 10–16 OSU hosted the Summer School for international students from partner universities. This year 8 students from Hiroshima University and Ehime University attended the course. Because of the natural disaster in Japan not all students enrolled earlier could arrive.

“The study program was very eventful. It had traditional classes in geography and geology of the Orenburg region, Russian language, Russian business and law, Russian culture and costume. For the first time the School program had “National cuisines” Festival” — commented Liudmila Dokashenko, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Education Development. At the festival one could taste dishes of 8 nationalities. It was a surprise what different tastes and preferences they all have. The festival was not the only event that introduced guests from Japan to the culture of the Orenburg region people. Every year one of the brightest master-class of the Summer School becomes the introduction to the history of the Russian costume made by Olga Chepurova, Head of the Design Department. At the end of the master-class the international students try the costumes of different epocs and classes on. The guests also visited some museums in the cultural complex “The Village of Nationalities”. Most of all they liked to play unfamiliar musical instruments: Bashkir kurai and physharmonica. Russian oven was another subject for excitement.

On completing the program all the participants of the OSU Summer School “Modern Russian Science and Culture” got the certificates of attendance from Svetlana Pankova, Prorector for Economics and Strategic Development.
