Strengthening Russian-Kyrgyz cooperation

Research Institute of the History and Ethnography of the Southern Urals acted as one of the coorganizers of a series of events dedicated to the historical and cultural cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan. The Orenburg region hosted the events in late May.

Russian and Kyrgyz representatives from public and political organizations, cultural, educational and scientific took part in the events.

At the end of May, the two commemorative plaques were opened in Orenburg. One is in honor of Yusup Abdrakhmanov,the founder of the Kyrgyz statehood, the first chairman of the government of the Kyrgyz ASSR. The second one is on the house where Isabenaly Arabaev studied. He was an educator and poet, the author of the first Kirghiz alphabet and the editor of the first newspaper in the Kyrgyz language Erkin-Too. The 90^th birth anniversary of the classic of Kyrgyz and Russian literature Chingiz Aitmatov became a key reason for the international conference “Historical and cultural cooperation in the past and present between the peoples of the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic”. Within the framework of the events, the Orenburg Dranma Theatre welcomed a meeting between the students of the Orenburg Institute of Arts and Bolotbek Shamshiyevin, a film director and scriptwriter, People's Artist of the USSR. In late May, Uzarbek Zhylkibaev, the head of the Issyk-Kul region, also met with Yuri Berg, the Governor of the Orenburg region.
