Shavarsh Karapetyan: a human should stay human in any situation

Shavarsh Karapetyan — a multiple Europe and World champion in scuba diving, a man who saved dozens of human lives — was hosted at OSU.

Zhanna Ermakova, OSU Rector introduced the guest to students and teaching staff. Shavarsh Karapetyan is a famous Soviet athlete, 11-time World Record holder, 13-time European champion, 7-time champion of the USSR, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, Honorary President of the Russian Diving Association.

Shavarsh Karapetyan pointed out an active civil position of today’s young generation. It was clearly demonstrated at the recent XIX World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi, where student and working youth envoys from different countries discussed current global problems and ways of their solution.

When asked which of all his awards he considers to be the most important, the guest says that for an athlete the most memorable is the first one, but the others are equally valuable and significant.
