Methods of combating religious radicalism were discussed

Orenburg hold the International Expert Platform “Positive Practices in Combating Religious Radicalism: a View from Russia”.

OSU Research Institute of the History and Ethnography of the Southern Urals, the Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization “People's Commonwealth of Eurasia” and the Regional Spiritual Administration of Muslims acted as the coorganisers of the event. To exchange experience the platform gathered more than 100 Muslim clergy members, scientists from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, experts from the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, MGIMO University, staff members from CIS Antiterrorist Center and law enforcement agencies.

Sergei Gavrilin, Chief Federal Inspector of the Orenburg region and Dmitry Kulagin, Vice-Governor, Head of Governor’s Office of the Orenburg region addressed to the audience with a welcoming speech.

Experts agreed that only through joint efforts, international cooperation between statemen and experts, exchange of information and news we can effectively counter common transboundary threats of extremism and terrorism in the Eurasian space.
