OSU welcomes visitors from the Republic of Korea

OSU Rector Zhanna Ermakova received honorary guests — Kim Se Woong, Consul General, Adviser at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Russia and his colleagues.

That was the first visit of the Consul General to the Orenburg region, and it aimed to meet with its Korean community. Kim Se Woong said that he had been given a warm welcome and he decided to start his acquaintance with the universities of the steppe capital with the largest and the most popular one in the region — Orenburg State University.

The first Kim Se Woong’s proposal for developing cooperation was to launch the Korean language courses. The popularity of language centers already functioning at OSU is an indicator of their effectiveness and the organization of a new one is possible, since many ethnic Koreans study at the university, Zhanna Ermakova says.

According to the Consul General, the cooperation with South Korean universities can start with academic mobility, particularly with student exchange support programs. At the end of the meeting, the Consul General expressed the hope that his visit would contribute to a greater awareness among his compatriots about such a reputable Russian university as OSU.

Then, Kim Se Woong met with the students of the Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences, Philology and Journalism and economic training units. Then the guests took a guided university tour and visited OSU History Museum.
