Summer school: Russian, chemistry and boyar costume

OSU hosted the II International Summer School.
On the first day young students from Japan, Germany and Kazakhstan met with OSU Rector Zhanna Ermakova.
The Rector told the guests that only five students from Hiroshima Universityš— OSU copartner, had attended the first International Summer School a year before. This year the second Summer School gathered 26šstudents from different countries.
Takuya Tsutchiya, a professor from Ehime University, confessed it was the first time he and his colleague paid a visit to Russia and he thanked the university team for the warm welcome. He expressed confidence that all students would have a wonderful time during their stay at OSU Summer School.
Klaus Hänßgen, a professor from the University of Applied Sciences of Leipzig (HTWK Leipzig) emphasized that OSU offers great opportunities to study and work.
As a part of their training program students had lectures on natural resources, places of interest and folk crafts of a polyethnic Orenburg region; they learned about OSU structureš— its faculties and training programs, research institutes and main research areas. The participants had a keen interest in all the activities. The guests fairly quickly recognized in the photographs historical personalities who had a direct contact to Orenburgš— Alexander Pushkin and Yuri Gagarin. The invited guests became animated when they saw a recognizable building of OSU Scientific Library on the screen. The students went on excursion to Rare and Valuable Books Department at OSU Scientific Library and to the University History Museum. Besides, they had classes in Russian. Liudmila Dokashenko gave them a lecture on the peculiarities of entrepreneurship in Russia. It aroused a great interest among students.
The guests had a rich cultural program. OSU students organized a house concert for the guests in the OSU dormitory #š1. They performed songs in Russian, English, Kazakh, Japanese, accompanied by guitar, ukulele (a Hawaiian guitar), kazoo, triangle, jaw's harp and shakuhachi (a Japanese bamboo flute).
At the end of the party, foreigners learnt a traditional Russian song “Kalinka”, and promised to sing it to all friends and acquaintances when being back home.
One of the brightest events was the visit to Sol-Iletsk resort and to the Cossack Kuren in Grigorievka village. Upon completion of the summer program foreign students got the certificates of attendance.
