It Is Not Easy to Translate from Chinese Language

Kseniya Volotko, 3rd-year student of OSU Faculty for Philology and Journalism, became a prizewinner of the open translation competition (translation of a literary text) among foreign language and non-language students from Russian and foreign universities. This event was organized and conducted by Siberian Federal University.

About 200šstudents from 28šuniversities of Russia, Germany, France, China and Ukraine took part in this competition. The texts in English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese languages were offered to participants for translation. Within every language category it was presented two textsš— poetic and prosaic one to choose from. Kseniya Volotko has chosen a poetic text of unknown author in Chinese language ("Two moons"). Her first experience in written translation seemed to be successfulš— student took the 3rd place.
