About France: Movies, Master’s Degree Program and “The Little Prince”

The Week of Romance Languages was conducted in OSU, organized by Department for Romance Philology and Methods of French Language Teaching. Due to the fact that the year 2016 was announced as the Year of Cinematography, the organizers have dedicated this event to the French movies.

This week was started by the SeptièmEart exhibition, organized by the 3^rd-year students of Department for Romance Philology and Methods of French Language Teaching. They have presented posters with illustrations devoted to the French cinematography.

The philosophical café became a traditional event of the Romance Languages Week. The epigraph to this café became the words belonging to Jean-Luc Godard: “I want to talk only about films. There is no need to discuss other questions — a film will tell you about everything, and it will help to achieve everything”.

The department conducted a quest for Orenburg pupils in French language. More than 50 upper-form pupils have learned about black and white movies, performed different tasks: to translate dialogues from movies, to match titles with the Russian translation, to guess a movie from excerpts. At the end of this game the participants visited the Rare Book Department and Museum of OSU History.

A new event was a photo competition “Like Brigitte Bardot”. The participants were to make one or few photos in the image of French movies characters and put them on Instagram or “VK” page.
