Personal Examination in Literacy

An international action "Total dictation — 2015" was carried out in OSU on 18^th of April. About 700 citizens and inhabitants of Orenburg region, more than 300 people in Orsk (Orsk Humanitarian Technological Institute) took part in the mass literacy test.

In Orenburg this event already became a tradition and took place in OSU Research Library at third time. Pupils, students, teachers and elderly wanted to prove their knowledge of Russian language. All these persons were flooded with one common mood to demonstrate respect to Russian language, to protect it from deformation and to praise literacy. OSU students-volunteers helped organizers during this event leading guests to the lecture rooms.

This time Yevgeniy Vodolazkin, Russian literature theorist and prose writer, was the author of test text. The topic of the text was Russian everyday life in the beginning of the 20^th century. Art sketch named "Magic lamp" is a draft for writer’s new novel. The dictation was held in 7 lecture rooms of OSU Research Library. Dmitriy Kulagin, Vice-Governor, Deputy Prime-Minister and Larisa Murashova, Branch Chief of FGUP "VGTRK GTRK "Orenburg", have dictated the test text parallel with best philologists of OSU.
