Future technologist from Orenburg and Bashkortostan needs only few seconds to recognize a type of meat (lamb, pork, beef, horse). The 4th and 5th year students of Applied Biotechnology and Engineering Faculty (OSU), Veterinary and Biotechnologies Faculty (Orenburg State Agrarian University), Food Technology Faculty (Bashkir State Agrarian University) have demonstrated their professional skills in frames of inter-university competition "I get to know my profession".

Inter-university competition 'I get to know my profession'

Biotechnology of Foodstuffs and Aquaculture Department (OSU) organized this event.

During competition the participants tried to distinguish the kinds of fats and minced meat by type and smell, to recognize the type of sausage products (structured, unstructured or buttery), to determine the kind of coverš— natural or artificial. The organizers prepared 11štasks for students. According to Mikhail Romanko, lecturer of Biotechnology of Foodstuffs and Aquaculture Department (OSU), the aim of event was teaching the students not only orientate in the variety of meat products, but to be fluent in terminology. This is a great training before state examination and presentation of graduation project.

This year students of three universities could learn more about the future profession. But for the next year it is planned to invite one more participant from Chelyabinskš— South-Ural State University.
