Visiting session of Russian Rectors Association Council

OSU Rector Vladimir Kovalevskiy took part in visiting session of Russian Rectors Association Council in the framework of forum “Developing Problems of Russian Language and Literature Teaching at School and University” in Stavropol.

Challenges of people literacy, breach of language norms affecting social and political changes were discussed on the forum organized by Russian Federation Ministry of Education and Science, Federal Education and Science Supervision Service, Russian Rectors’ Council and North Caucasian Federal University.

Forum’s participants noted that it’s necessary to implement new approaches for Russian language and Literature teaching at school and university due to language environment’s steady changes in modern multicultural world. Unified State Examination regularly displays all weaknesses in this areaš— on a ground of humanitarian education’s reduction in Russia.

— The topic of Russian Rectors Association Council’s visiting session “Development of Russian Language Teachingš— Priority of Russian Education” is very important for me,š— Vladimir Kovalevskiy tells.š— Not only famous Russian satirist Mikhail Zadornov highlights all-round reduction of state language skills. I deal with it every day. Our lecturers and librarians notice illiteracy of young generation. In such cases it’s necessary to read more, to educate TV presenters of the main channels in order to keep speech culture, but Russian Rectors Council denotes the key linkš— schoolš— to resolve the problem. Current generation will be not literate if a teacher of Russian language is not a professional. Therefore it is very important to specify the basic approaches in reforming of teaching staff’ training system for the government, experience exchange on improvement of Russian language and Literature teaching.
