Orenburg State University knows how to deal with the problem of wet roads. On October 6 professor from National Technical University of Athens (Greece) — Vasileios Psarianos gave lecture for the students of Architecture and Construction Faculty. It was devoted to the problems of hydroplaning, road design and construction.

Vasileios told about historical and scientific aspects of hydroplaning study and the lecture held in English. The visual aids were the presentation with slides of graphs, tables and formulas, statistical data.

Hydroplaning is an unsolved problem in the world, — said Vasileios Psarianos. — When a car wheel loses contact with the wet road surface it falls into the danger area increasing the risk of accidents. Influence of weather factors on the state of the road determines the relevance of hydroplaning study in Russian Federation and abroad.

The professor showed video of skidding truck in rainy weather. OSU students actively asked questions about modern technologies used for road construction in the world, as well as possible ways to combat hydroplaning on roads in Orenburg region. The key attention was paid to the discussion of road conditions impact on driver behavior and reducing the risk of accidents.
