The regular meeting of University's Lectern was devoted to English language. This meeting was organized by Association “Orenburg’s University (Educational) District” for seniors from Orenburg and Orenburg district schools.

On the 18^th of February assistant professor of Department of Foreign Languages (specialization in technical and natural sciences), Candidate of Pedagogic Sciences Vitaly Tomin met with them.

The topic of lesson was “English language — stay tuned”. During this lesson 158 seniors from 19 educational institutions of Orenburg city not only learned about differences between British and American English in pronunciation, words' writing and sentences' building, but decoded the English acronyms (abbreviations) together with the lector.

Vitaly Tomin conducted a “virtual excursion” on famous boroughs of New-York city (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island), told about the longest street — Broadway (more than 25 km), sights, famous museums, system of education, healthcare, transport, social services in America.

During this lesson seniors learned a lot of new facts and showed interest to learn more: question-and-answer session continued after finishing the event.
