Rectors of Higher Education Institutions are against the Brain Drain from the Region

The meeting of Rectors’ Council of Orenburg region took place in OSU on the 29^th of October. Project "Intellectual Future of Orenburg" was one of the issues.

Rectors of Orenburg Institutions propose to introduce supplementary scholarships of 5 000 rubles to students of regional state universities from Orenburg region budget.

The reason is obvious: upon four years’ monitoring not less than 70 % of the best prospective students leave Orenburg annually. The OSU project "Intellectual Future of Orenburg", proposed three years ago, is a real opportunity to prevent schools graduates’ outflow of region, which total points of Unified State Examination in three subjects are more than 225 points. The Rectors’ Council of Orenburg region approved this project. Additional governor’s scholarship is a real support to regional intellectual elite; it will attract the best graduates, who seek self development, in regional universities.
