Happy Anniversary, Festival!

10^th Festival "Days of Japan in OSU" Was Held in Orenburg State University. The grand opening was organized in Cinema Center "Kosmos" on the 15^th of October.

Sergey Letuta — OSU Pro-rector for Research noted in his speech that the festival "Days of Japan in OSU" grown out of Orenburg State University and became city event.

Participants of anniversary festival could visit many different master-classes during the week. They learned how to sew and wear Japanese kimono, cook Japanese dishes, create a unique flower arrangement, and the fact that furosiky is like the origami, but made from fabric. It was possible to master east writing on a calligraphy master-class. Participants also learned that calligraphy in Japan is rarity today and used only in special cases. Tea ceremony was traditionally held for guests of festival.

The Film Festival didn’t leave indifferent amateurs of Japanese culture. It was opened with film exhibition "After Flower’s Season".

The anniversary festival ended with business seminar "Development trends of international tourism". The audience was especially surprised that large share of consumers in this sphere were the elderly. Speaking about Japanese-Russian tourist exchange, it was noted that this rate is very small — less than 1 % in both directions of the total tourists’ number. Such event as the festival "Days of Japan in OSU" would be an excellent reason to attract tourists from Land of the Rising Sun, to visit Russia and Orenburg.
