They helped in organization of table tennis, rifle and pistol shooting, fencing, field hockey competitions. Some students worked in International Information Centre and accompanied foreign delegation. The volunteers told about their job and impressions at the press conference with Universiade participants, which took place in OSU after activists` return in Orenburg.

OSU studentš— Andrey Lopin showed by personal example that it is very responsible to be a sports volunteer; sometimes you have to solve vital problems:

— I worked as attaché of Togo delegation. One night the head of this group got sick and I had to translate his and doctor`s words. There was a problem that doctors and other staff speak English but head of Togo delegation could speak only French. But we dealt successfully with it.

The student of OSU Aziza Bakeeva working at the facility of weightlifting "Ak Bure" remarked once that coach of Turkish national team got sick. The girl took him to first-aid post but none of medical staff could help the patient because he spoke only Turkish. Aziza was the only who understood this language. With her help Doctors could make diagnosis and took necessary measures. The girl told journalists at a press conference that she mastered Turkish while watching TV serials in original language.

The volunteers were powerful cheerleading squad for our athletes at Universiade. The results are obviousš— Russian national team became the medal leader. Six Orenburg athletes, taking part in competitions added seven medals to national student’s team. Among them were two OSU studentsš— tennis-players Kirill Skachkov and Elena Troshneva. OSU graduate Sergey Nazin also participated in Universiade. He became seventh in individual one-meter diving and sixth in nine-meter diving, but he won silver medal in the team competition with other participants of Russian team. The professional judges carefully overlooked sport events and the representative of Orenburg TSC "Penguin"coach-lecturer L.M.šGracheva was among them.

Students of OSU "Russia" Culture Centre: dance group "Zhemchuzhinka" and vocal ensemble "Ekskurs" helped to create festive mood on Universiade.

The Universiade Organizing Committee highly appreciated work of Orenburg volunteers. The best evidence of quality work was the letter of gratitude for Orenburg State University, signed by Universiade Management, Russian Sport Ministerš— V.L.šMutko, FISU Presidentš— Claude-Louis Galien, President of Tatarstanš— R.N.šMinnikhanov; as well as hallmark of Students Gamesš— glass palm, which were given to the most outstanding delegations.
