Ham is for All

On theš14th of June Faculty of Applied Biotechnology and Engineering presented unique developmentš— "University Ham", rich in dietary fibers.
It is the graduate work, developed by theš5th year student Altnay Turlubaeva on the initiative of Mikhail Romankoš— lecturer of Milk and Meat Treatment Process Department. Olga Bogatovaš— Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Head of Milk and Meat Treatment Process Departmentš— was scientific adviser. Recently this product was honored with gold medal and the certificate at European competition for students innovating projects in Volgograd.
The Ham is unique because of natural ingredients: by-products, garlic, different kinds of pepper, vegetable fiber "Unitsel-500" and carrot. Vegetable fiber contains few proteins and fats, but rich in minerals. It is known that daily eating of vegetable cellulose builds up a body, increases its resistance to infectious diseases, to unfavourable environment and also takes out carcinogenic materials and heavy metals of human body. Ham is successfully used in healthy diet for liver and kidneys cardiovascular diseases. In addition, it is rich in β-carotene and has radioprotective feature, which help to reduce the risk of oncological diseases.
It should be noted, that "University Ham" is free of flavor enhancers and food additives. All commissioners were satisfied with it after tasting. One of commission members Elzhas Durtkarinovš— Head of Food and Processing Industry Department of Orenburg region, offered an opinion that "University Ham" would be highly appreciated in estimating.
The food specifications are already developed and registered: ôORš9213-00200145425-2013 "University Ham", enriched in dietary fibers. This points to the fact, that only OSU has rights to manufacture this product. However, some meat processing companies showed interest to the unique development.
The product's prime cost will be extremely low despite of high qualitative characteristics, and, therefore accessible to people from all social groups. The developers hope that "University Ham" will take up its rightful place in ration of many consumers.
