Orenburg State University held celebrations, devoted to the Russian Students Day.
OSU celebrated its 17th anniversary as a classical university on the 25th of January. The celebration began with the solemn divine service in the chapel of St. Martyr Tatiana held by Valentin Metropolitan of Orenburg and Saraktash. The best lecturers and students of Orenburg State University were awarded within the united ceremonial meeting of OSU Academic Council taken place in the Culture Palace "Russia". OSU Rector V.P. Kovalevskiy made a report, where he summarized the results of the past year, outlined the priorities for the future and described the ways to meet with challenges in different spheres of university activity.
The culmination of celebration was a gala concert. The audience enjoyed both well-known numbers that have become "gold reserve" of the Culture Palace and absolutely new performances. For example folk team of pop dance "Zhemchuzhinka" presented new concerted numbers "Step up", "Step" and others to the public.
Dance, vocal and acrobatic stage performances were followed by congratulatory speeches from city administration’ managers and representatives of political party, who came to congratulate students and OSU staff:
— It is encouraging, despite the endless reforms and innovations of Russian educational sphere for the last years, OSU not only survives but also develops extensively, — the Deputy Head of Orenburg City A.A. Shevchenko noted in his speech. — Thank you for this, because for our city it is important to have the large institution that occupies leading positions not only in Orenburg Region and in Volga Federal District, but also in the country as a whole. It is pleasant to mark that a lot of your students were at presentation of the Annual City Award "Student of the Year". It means that OSU doesn’t lose the status as alma mater of highly skilled specialists.
The Sparkling fun on the stage teamed up the audience and erased borders between lecturers and students. Creative teams’ performances of Culture Palace "Russia" impressed and inspired not only them, but also foreign guests.
— I have visited gala concerts in Germany, Poland, England and Spain, but it couldn’t be compared with the bright and colorful show, which I have seen here, on the stage of Culture Palace "Russia", — lecturer of Robert Bosch Stiftung Bartholomäus Minkowski, came from Germany to prelect in OSU, shares impressions. — Concerts are full of emotions, and artistic self-giving. I think that holidays are so wonderful due to breadth of Russian soul.
