OSU Russian Philology and Methods of Russian Language Teaching Department have organized a flash mob “Reading Pushkin”. During the flash mob everyone can read poems of the famous poet in Russian, English, German, French, and other languages. Medical students from India have already joined the flash mob.
The main goal of the event is to attract more children, teenagers, and young people to reading Russian classic literature and to provoke a critical and creative thinking on Pushkin’s works. The event is held in conjunction with the International Russian Language Day.
Organizers expect the event to start a literary project that will continue with several flash mobs to present modern versions of famous Russian poetry and prose.
The project organizers are Irina Gorovaya, Natalya Yegorova, and Yulia Shchipanova, senior lecturers from Russian Philology and Methods of Russian Language Teaching Department. Russian Language Department of Foreign Language Faculty of OrSMU act as co-partners (A.V. Zavadskaya, N.N. Gorovaya, T.M. Uryupina, and A.M. Frolova).
The flash mob “Reading Pushkin” has gained a lot of popularity in social media. From July 1, university and high school students and teachers publish their videos and audio records of Pushkin poems in Russian, French, German, Norwegian, and other languages. The posts receive a lot of positive comments from audience.
You are still most welcome to tae part in the flash mob. Make a video or audio record of your reading a poem (or a passage), name it, and upload to the Russian Philology and Methods of Russian Language Teaching Department official group on "Vkontakte".
The organizers also invite all people who like Pushkin's works to check their knowledge taking part in a “The magic of Pushkin’s word” quiz.
