On January 25 OSU celebrated the Day of Russian students (Tatyana's Day) and the 22-year anniversary of the university as a classical university.
On the eve of the celebration all faculties and university departments held solemn meetings dedicated to Tatyana's Day. On the morning of January 25, a festive prayer service was held at the Chapel of Holy Martyr Tatiana, who is considered to be the patron saint of students, by Father Sergyi and Protopope Dimitri, Church Beneficiary.
Tatiana's day celebration continued at OSU Students' Cultural Center “Rossiya”. At the ceremonial meeting of the Academic Council of the university and academic councils of faculties and institutes, branches and colleges, as well as the representatives of Students Councils, the Labour Union and the Headquarters of Students Construction Brigade, OSU Rector Zhanna Ermakova delivered a report to sum up the results of the past year, and to set the goals the University is to face.
Vyacheslav Labuzov, Minister of Education of the Orenburg region congratulated all those present on his own behalf and on behalf of Yuri Berg, Governor of the Orenburg region.
Svetlana Pankova, Prorector for Academic Affairs read out the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation that listed the names of scientists awarded the title "Honored Worker of Russian Federation Higher Education" for significant merits in the field of education and long-term conscientious work.
OSU veterans, as well as young people who were awarded the title "The Best OSU Student", and activists — representatives of the Students Council, the Labour Union and the Students Construction Brigade were awarded on that day. One named the best student groups of the faculties. The groups of secondary vocational education competed for the first time, and OSU College was the winner.
The awards also went to the winners of the Spartakiad of OSU teachers and employees "Cheerfulness and Health". The oldest Spartakiad participant, Mira Tsikanovskaya, a senior lecturer of Faculty of the Automated Electric Drive, Electromechanics and Electrotechnics, who had been working for over 50 years at high school, was invited on the stage together with prize-winners. The Rector handed her a diploma and thanked her for the devotion to the university.
Representatives of the government and the Legislative Assembly of the Orenburg region, and other structures, as well as foreign guests — university partners from the Ehime Prefecture government (Japan), the University of Ehime, Botchan Theater actors, TH Georg Agricola University of Applied Sciences (Germany) staff came to congratulate the employees and students.
The celebration went on with a big festive concert.
