On the 25th of January OSU celebrated Russian Students Day and its 21st anniversary as a classical HEI.
The festive meetings of all faculties and departments of the university devoted to the Tatiana Day took place on the eve of this remarkable date. Students, lecturers and employees were awarded with honorary certificates and appreciation letters from Rector and the administration for conscientious work, advanced achievements in learning, research, sport performance and public activity.
The main events were held on the 25th of January. This day’s morning (according to the long-term tradition) started with prayer service in the Tatiana’s chapel performed by Father Ioann.
The joint meeting of University’s Academic Council together with academic councils of faculties and institutions were held in the afternoon in the big hall of OSU Students Center "Russia". It was opened by Rector Zhanna Ermakova. She congratulated the participants on double occasion and noticed that our university is a big ship, and its way directly depends on the crew who belongs to the university’s life.
Vice-rector for Academic Affairs Svetlana Pankova presented a paper "Orenburg State University: development strategy of a supporting university".
The festive meeting was continued by employees’ awarding that were given a title "Honorary Education Worker of the Russian Federation" by Russian Ministry for Education and Science. University’s administration also awarded the best students, lecturers and employees of OSU. Long-service employees traditionally got certificates; their number this year was 20. Young people — holders of title "The Best OSU Student" (one student from each faculty), and winners of the annual competition "The Best OSU Group" also were the main figures of this event. Faculties for Architecture and Construction, Geology and Geography, Law, as well as OSU Kumertau Branch became winners of "The Best OSU Group" contest.
This day award winners of OSU competition "Cheerfulness and Health — 2017" for lecturers and employees got their prizes.
At the end of the meeting Orenburg Region’s Education Minister Vyacheslav Labuzov congratulated the audience on the 21st anniversary of the university in the name of Orenburg Region’s Governor Yuriy Berg. On his own behalf Vyacheslav Labuzov said thank to OSU lecturers for selfless work.
Splendid performance of OSU Students Center’s creative teams impressed each and everyone. A great fest with over 20 performances became a symbol for youth, courage and positive. It reminded the simple truth for all participants — life is beautiful and amazing!
